As part of the organization's annual outreach activities, The UPLB Genetics Society (GeneSoc) conducted the One Gene, One Child at the HOPE Intervention Center last December 12, 2025. The HOPE Intervention Center, located in Calamba City, is a special institution for children diagnosed with autism and related developmental disabilities. The event ran from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, wrapping up a morning full of joy and generosity.
The outreach program was organized by GeneSoc members and made possible through the help and coordination of Sir Eric Cuenca, the current head of HOPE Intervention Center, who facilitated the activity in line with the school’s Christmas Party Celebration. The event brought together GeneSoc members and families of HOPE Intervention Center for a meaningful gathering.
The Christmas Party program was filled with lively activities that kept both the children and GeneSoc members engaged throughout the morning. The students of HOPE Intervention Center took center stage with intermission numbers, showcasing their talents and bringing smiles to everyone.
This outreach centered on an in-kind donation drive, where the members organized and prepared gift packages to approximately 120 students. The gift packs contained hygiene products, coloring books, crayons, other school supplies, snacks and drinks, and many more. These donations were collected ahead of the event through a campaign within the organization.
The program was held in the spirit of GeneSoc’s commitment to community service and social responsibility by extending support to differently-abled children and their families during the holiday season.
Looking ahead, GeneSoc is planning to conduct a Medical Mission by May 2026. Further details on the venue and other information will be announced as they become available.
