Marion “Marj” Magdamit, Jr. (Resistome)

President/Executive Committee Head

Marj is an indelible force of nature. Having just completed his remarkable term as the 40th Education Committee Head, Marj is well-versed in the inner workings of the Executive Committee and knows precisely how to make an organization thrive. Now as he steps up to the role of President and Executive Committee Head, he has shown that not even a force majeure can break his indomitable spirit. More than that, he possesses a talent for bringing people together. His dedication to the craft is matched only by the friendship and humor he brings, uplifting even the most dispirited groups of people. With his steadfast leadership and uninhibited drive for excellence, GeneSoc is sure to alight from the ground and skyrocket to soaring heights, even greater than the sky’s limit.


Clara Ysabel “Cla” Alumaga (Resistome)

Vice President/Membership Committee Head

Cla proudly wears the moniker of “jack-of-all-trades, queen of empathy,” and this is perhaps why she performs the role of Vice President and Membership Committee Head exceptionally well. She has certainly breathed new life into GeneSoc, figuratively through the gentle community she has nurtured within the organization and literally through the thoughtful breathing exercises she slips in the Google Forms for the wellness check of the members. Despite all uncertainties, she figures it out, like she always has in any pursuit she sets her sights on. She has inarguably mastered the craft of creating a family out of whoever is around.


Lefriz “Lef” Dayto (Resistome)

Secretary/Documentation Committee Head

Lef navigates everyday bureaucracies with ease, thanks to her exceptional organizational skills. For her, tackling paperwork is a walk in the park; she seamlessly waltzes through hurdles, ensuring everything is signed and submitted on time. As the Secretary of GeneSoc, she embodies reliability and dependability, proving she’s cut out to perfection for the role. While secretariat work often goes unnoticed, Lef consistently demonstrates her value as a Top 3 Officer in the organization. In making decisions and resolving challenges, she shares her insights drawn from experience, solidifying her status as an indispensable pillar of GeneSoc.


Jaka Rossengail Santos (Amelogenin)

Treasurer/Finance Committee Head

Jaka is truly a force to be reckoned with as the head of the Finance Committee. Assertive and level-headed, she navigates complex financial discussions with remarkable clarity and confidence. What sets her apart, though, is her unique ability to infuse humor into every conversation, skillfully weaving it to make even the most daunting topics engaging and enjoyable. With Jaka at the helm, money matters become a lively exchange rather than a chore, proving that finance doesn’t have to be dull!


Matthias Augustus “Matti” Padilla (Pseudouridine)

P.R.O./Public Relations Committee Head

Matti holds a keen eye for detail and an even greater passion for effective communication, both of which come together in perfect unison in his role as the Public Relations Officer. This position is no easy feat, as he is required to be online 24/7, swiftly answering queries, engaging with partners, and posting organizational updates on social media. Whether he's crafting thoughtful captions to inquiries or proactively sharing updates, Matti seamlessly balances professionalism with a personable touch. One can always rely on Matti, just as you can bet to see him whiz past around the corner with his trusted bicycle.


Ma. Leana Patrice “Lia” Lazo (Inosine)

Education Committee Head

Filling the shoes of the Education Committee Head is no small feat, especially in an organization renowned for producing some of the greatest minds in genetics. Yet for Lia, who harbors a deep love for the field, leading the Education Committee feels like second nature. With a plethora of engaging initiatives—from back-to-back BIO 30 Tutorials to vibrant Genetics Week celebrations—GeneSoc thrives on the brains and brawn of its Education Committee with the guidance of Lia. Armed with her sharp intellect, Lia is poised to become a luminary in the world of genetics herself.


Chris Angelo Bartolome (Resistome)

Projects Committee Head

Even when he first entered the organization, Chris has consistently proven that he has the ingenuity and passion for creating exhibits and displays. Now, as the Projects Committee Head, he fully enacts his skills by seeing the potential in every project, transforming abstract ideas into vibrant, engaging displays that captivate audiences. His innovative spirit also shines through in every aspect of his work, whether he's designing exhibit layouts or creating interactive elements out of scratch. In earnest, no one comes close to his resounding patience and unwavering dedication to the craft, which is why, through his leadership, Chris truly brings GeneSoc’s exhibits to life.


Juan Manuel Benjamin “Manny” Ricarte (Pseudouridine)

Technicals Committee Head

Manny wears the badge of someone completely trustworthy, and rightfully so. He is always one step ahead of the curve, maneuvering with incredible foresight that keeps the organization afloat. As the Technicals Committee Head, he possesses the innate ability to anticipate challenges before they arise and to conjure solutions at the drop of a hat. More than that, Manny inspires with his infectious enthusiasm that the resident members and co-executive members sorely need in times of trouble. Indeed, no one comes across as handy as Manny.


Elaissa Faye “Elai” Pua (Resistome)

Publicity Committee Head

Elai’s creative vision for the organization’s publicity is overflowing with colorful ideas that are sure to propel the organization forward. Passionate about arts and design, she approaches each publication with a set of fresh eyes while ensuring that every piece reflects the organization's identity and values. She consistently redefines the bounds of artistic creation by releasing audio-visual presentations and newsletter layouts. Similar to how she stuns with her brightly colored hair, Elai amazes with the impeccable manner in which she runs the Publicity Committee. She creates an atmosphere that cultivates collaboration and creativity while keeping the organization’s best interests at heart.

GENEWS Editor-in-Chief

Jan has the rare gift of being a keen observer and an even greater storyteller. As the Editor-in-Chief of GENEWS, it seems as though she writes articles for GENEWS on the fly as the words spill beautifully from her mind onto ink and paper. Her greatest strength lies in her ability to connect the dots between complex ideas and relatable narratives, making intricate genetic concepts accessible to her readers. With a unique blend of insight and creativity, Jan transforms the latest news on genetics into compelling stories that resonate and leave a lasting impact on her audience.


Jan Pauline “Janine” Roxas (Resistome)

Outreach Committee Head

Janine embodies the antithesis of impossibility. With her fierce determination and boundless energy, every seemingly unattainable goal becomes achievable, making her a perfect fit for the position of Outreach Committee Head. Driven by a deep commitment to public service, she possesses a rare wisdom that allows her to navigate challenges with grace. Janine always finds the silver lining in difficult situations, and as she prepares for the upcoming "One Gene, One Child" initiative, her sure-footed mindset inspires those around her. After every storm at sea, Janine is the first to glimpse the horizon.


John Patrick “Bolim” Limbo (Inosine)

National Intercollegiate Genetics Quiz Contest Steering Committee Head

Easy-going and reliable, Bolim can be mostly found lounging in the reading room of IBS, chatting with friends over studies and morning breakfast. But make no mistake, Bolim has risen to the challenge and stepped up to the daunting task of helming the National Intercollegiate Genetics Quiz Contest, in its return as a part of the 2024 National Biotechnology Week. As he revs up for the highly-awaited event, he has shown how he is a dynamic leader with a passion for knowledge and competition.


Rojan Samuel “Sam” Daluz (Inosine)

Volunteer Youth Leaders for Health Committee Head

During educational seminars and presentations, Sam is notorious for posing the most challenging questions that make one scratch their head. But this only shows that his passion for the science of genetics is brimming to the top. In truth, Sam undeniably shines as the Head of the Volunteer Youth Leaders for Health, where his passion for community engagement comes to life. In this role, he is challenged to bridge the art of volunteering to motivate students in the university who are equally passionate about health initiatives. Based on Sam’s track record, it won’t be long before he starts inspiring young leaders to take action as well.
