UPLB holds 2nd Virtual Commencement Exercises amidst the pandemic: 4 Grads from GeneSoc

The University of the Philippines Los BaƱos (UPLB) celebrated the graduation of 1,036 students at the 49th Commencement Exercises last August 7, 2021, which marked the second time that the event was held online due to circumstances brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. The event was broadcasted virtually through livestreams on the official YouTube channel and Facebook page of the University.

The graduating class consisted of 813 graduates of undergraduate degrees, 172 students of master’s degrees, and 51 students who completed PhD degrees. 

Among these graduates are four alumni of The UPLB Genetics Society: Ma. Angela Arrosa of Batch Cyclosome, graduating with a degree of BS in Civil Engineering; Maria Lourdes Dominique Avena of Batch Hybrizime, graduating with a degree of BS in Biology, Major in Cell and Molecular Biology; Ma. Angelica Robles of Batch Cybrid, graduating with a degree of BS in Biology, Major in Zoology; and Faye Escobido of Batch Polyplex, graduating with a degree of BS in Biology, Major in Genetics.

UPLB Chancellor Jose V. Camacho Jr. and University of the Philippines President Danilo L. Concepcion Jr. started off the graduation ceremony. Distinguished UPLB alumnus Ronald Daniel MascariƱas, a  graduate of BS Agriculture in 1982 and a renowned figure in the Philippine poultry industry, served as the guest speaker at the virtual commencement program
