This year, a group of GeneSoc distinguished alumni once again proved that ‘’the sky is the limit.’’
Fifteen (15) alumni of The UPLB Genetics Society (GeneSoc) alumni have exemplified passion for excellence and commitment to service in their recently achieved scholarly and professional achievements that exhibited their outstanding pursuit of knowledge and dedication in serving the nation.
Covering a wide range of diverse fields, these GeneSoc alumni aced aptitude and licensure examinations, and were installed on various positions in the University:
31st term GENEWS Editor-in-Chief Paul Jhon Diezon (Phagemids) passed the 2021 University of the Philippines College of Law Aptitude Examinations.
In addition, ten GeneSoc doctors have passed this year’s Physician Licensure Examinations (PLE): Dr. Veronica Grace Adan (Karyotype), Dr. Anna Mikaela Arquiza (H1), and Dr. Maria Quita Guevarra (Iterons) passed the March 2021 PLE; Dr. Ben Henry Baang (Segrosome), and Dr. Veronica Page Chavez (Iterons) passed the September 2021 PLE; Dr. Aurella Kristin Hernandez (Phagemids), Dr. Ralph Dominc Ong (Phagemids), Dr. Beatriz Arellano (Riboprobes), Dr. Nyka Noelle Barrientos (Riboprobes), and Dr. Deniz Marie Felix (Enhanceosome) passed the October-November 2021 PLE.
Meanwhile, four distinguished GeneSoc alumni took several university positions: Atty. Jorge Davide Jr. (Charter) became the Chairperson of the Student Disciplinary Tribunal; Dr. Walter LaviΓ±a (Polysomes) became the Deputy Director of the Institute of Biological Sciences; Asst. Prof. Therese Julienne Medina (Polygenes) became the Plant Biology Division Head of the Institute of Biological Sciences; and Asst. Prof. Krissah Marga Taganas (Amplicons) became the Philosophy Division Head of the Department of Humanities.
For almost 40 years, the members of The UPLB Genetics Society have been making an impact in upholding the highest standards and values in their endeavours. As exemplary role models representing the organization, they inspire and motivate everyone to set their aspirations high.
