As The UPLB Genetics Society embarks on its 42nd term, a new generation of leaders takes the helm, each one embodying the passion, intellect, and compassion that define a true Gene. This year’s Executive Committee stands as a balanced mix of experience and fresh drive, guiding the organization with both purpose and personality. From planning initiatives to fostering a home, the 42nd Executive Committee proves that leadership is not just about function, but about heart.



Clara Ysabel “Cla” Alumaga (Resistome)

President / Executive Committee Head


At the forefront of the 42nd term is Cla, the organization’s “jack-of-all-trades” and a dependable guiding force for every Gene. As the current head of the organization, her leadership extends beyond management. She nurtures growth, collaboration, and balance within the team. Her extensive experience as the 41st Vice President and Membership Committee Head honed her versatility, allowing her to adapt seamlessly to every challenge that comes her way. Whether overseeing operations, mentoring members, or ensuring projects run smoothly, Cla’s steady hand and empathetic approach keep GeneSoc’s heart beating strong. Under her guidance, the organization moves forward with confidence, purpose, and unity.



Alodia Iyanla “Iya” Viray (Chromoplexy)

Vice President / Membership Committee Head


A leader with an angel-like empathy, Iya exemplifies the compassion and mindfulness that define GeneSoc’s membership culture. Her natural ability to understand and prioritize the well-being of others makes her a comforting presence within the organization. As the mother of the organization, Iya’s leadership is anchored on inclusivity and connection, ensuring that every Gene feels valued and supported. She bridges the gap between personal and professional growth, encouraging members to thrive not just as students, but as compassionate individuals. With her at the Membership Committee’s helm, GeneSoc continues to grow as a family, strengthened by care and understanding.



Angel Reign “Igna” Casipe (Resistome)

Secretary / Documentation Committee Head


With her ever-present laptop and unstoppable energy, Igna embodies the epitome of commitment and organization. Igna ensures that every record, document, and memory is preserved with precision and creativity. Her presence is synonymous with efficiency, always on the go, always dependable, and always ready to lend a hand. Beyond her systematic nature, Igna’s dedication to service reflects her deep love for the organization and its members. She reminds everyone that leadership is not just about responsibility, but also about consistency and heart.



Jewel Christi Umali (Chromoplexy)

Treasurer / Finance Committee Head



True to her name, Jewel is the shining gem of the 42nd Executive Committee. As the Treasurer and Finance Committee Head, she balances practicality with optimism, turning numbers into narratives of hope and progress. Known for her sunshine-like personality, she radiates positivity that uplifts everyone she works with. Her diligence ensures that GeneSoc’s resources are managed with transparency and care, reflecting her deep sense of accountability. Jewel’s ever-present smile and calm composure remind the organization that even under pressure, grace and warmth go a long way.



Yuan Miguel “Miggy” Jose (Harbinger)

Public Relations Officer / Public Relations Committee Head



Known as “Mr. Worldwide,” Miggy’s influence extends beyond the organization, building meaningful connections within and outside the university. His diligence and creativity as Public Relations Officer ensure that GeneSoc’s voice remains visible, and impactful across various platforms. More than just managing publicity, he uses communication as a tool for advocacy, awareness, and unity. Miggy’s leadership style reflects balance, he is both approachable and a visionary, capable of turning every initiative into an opportunity to empower others. With his energy and commitment, he continues to amplify GeneSoc’s presence while inspiring the next generation of leaders.



Josiah Caleb “Siah” Magollado (Chromoplexy)

Education Committee Head



Leading through intellect and calm assurance, Siah embodies the balance between wit and passion that drives GeneSoc’s academic excellence. As the Education Committee Head, he bridges the gap between learning and leadership, ensuring that academic programs inspire curiosity and confidence among members. His laidback attitude and humor makes him approachable. Siah’s ability to turn knowledge into meaningful engagement defines his leadership, steady, thoughtful, and always looking forward. Through his guidance, GeneSoc continues to nurture a culture where learning thrives hand in hand with passion.



Mariah Angelique Jahnel “Ange” Talosig (Chromoplexy)

Projects Committee Head



If creativity had a face, it would probably be Ange’s, with an iPad in one hand and a brilliant idea in the other. Her artistic flair spills over every project, turning simple plans into full-blown masterpieces. Whether it’s a booth, a hallway design, or a brainstorming session, you can count on her to sprinkle it with aesthetic precision and just the right amount of chaos. As the Projects Committee Head, she’s the glue gun holding the team together (literally and figuratively). And while she’s “more active on IG,” her real canvas is GeneSoc itself.



Ian Justin Manansala (Chromoplexy)

Publicity Committee Head



Cool, calm, and maybe a little too chill, that’s Ian, our nonchalant publicity genius who somehow gets everything done just in time. His humor keeps the committee alive, and his creativity keeps GeneSoc’s posts looking fresh and flawless. Behind every witty caption or eye-catching layout, there’s Ian probably sipping coffee and pretending he’s not stressed. Publicity runs on deadlines, but Ian runs on vibes. He’s proof that sometimes, the best way to handle pressure is to make it look effortless.



Paul Jefferson “PJ” Arnigo (Fosmid)

GENEWS Editor-in-Chief



A writer of truth and thought, PJ wields words as powerfully as any scientist wields discovery. As the Editor-in-Chief of GENEWS, he serves as the voice and conscience of the organization, bringing advocacy, identity, and intellect to light. His commitment to truth and storytelling mirrors the heart of GeneSoc’s mission, to inform, inspire, and ignite understanding. Whether through editorials or features, PJ’s work reflects precision, and an unrelenting pursuit of meaning. Wherever the story is, PJ will always be there, dedicated to amplifying the voices that matter.



Christine Grace “Tin” Sibayan (Harbinger)

Outreach Committee Head



Tin is the warm hug of the 42nd term, an “indie girl” with empathy levels set to maximum. Whether helping out on organizational activities or simply lending an ear, she exudes sincerity that makes every effort feel personal. Her leadership style? Equal parts compassion and quiet strength. She makes helping others look effortlessly cool, proving that kindness never goes out of style. She’s never one to seek the spotlight, but her presence shines in quiet acts of kindness and understanding. With Tin around, the GeneSoc doesn’t just serve 



Keira Maxine “Kei” Reyes (Harbinger)

Volunteer Youth Leaders for Health (VYLH) Committee Head



Pretty, perceptive, and packed with purpose, Kei’s the kind of person who can light up a room and a whole committee meeting. Her sharp insight and laser focus make her the ultimate goal-getter, but she always does it with poise. She’s the kind of person who speaks with intention, and acts with purpose. As the head of VYLH, she blends empathy and excellence like a well-balanced gene expression. Whether she’s in the middle of a meeting or a camp in some part of the country, Keira radiates calm confidence that commands respect. In short? Beauty, brains, and big “bayanihan” energy.

Genetics Camp Steering Committee Head



Dependable and driven, Jared stands as a model of accountability and excellence. As the Steering Committee Head of the Genetics Camp, he upholds the tradition of organizing one of GeneSoc’s most significant educational events with precision and heart. His leadership ensures that every detail is executed to the highest standard, reflecting his deep passion for genetics education. Jared’s calm and composed demeanor inspires confidence among his peers, allowing collaboration to flourish effortlessly. Matthias Augustus “Matti” Padilla (Pseudouridine)

National Intercollegiate Genetics Quiz Contest (NIGQC) Steering Committee Head



Returning with renewed passion, Matti takes on the role of NIGQC Steering Committee Head with diligence and direction. Having served as the 41st Public Relations Officer, he brings a wealth of experience in organization and coordination to the year’s supposed national quiz contest. His meticulous work ethic ensures that every stage of preparation runs smoothly, from logistics to execution. Matti’s dedication to promoting genetics education across institutions highlights his commitment to scientific growth and collaboration.
