About PSBMB

The PSBMB, formerly known as the Philippine Biochemistry Society (PBS) was established in August 1973 by a group of biochemistry educators to foster the development of biochemistry in the country. The change from the name PBS  to PSBMB in 1993 signified the integration of molecular biology as a closely related science.  The Society’s membership is open to all persons holding at least a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, chemistry, biology, pharmacy, medicine, and other related disciplines and who are active in teaching and/or research in biochemistry and/or related fields. The society has sponsored annual conventions, seminars, workshops on concepts/principles, advances, laboratory techniques, teaching techniques, and aids, applications of biochemistry, and molecular biology in different parts of the country

The PSBMB is a member of the Federation of Asian and Oceanian Biochemists and Molecular Biologists (FAOBMB). It is also the Philippine representative to the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB).
